Karen Schreiber Fireman has extensive experience in national security analysis, finance, data analytics and risk oversight. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with a Masters in Analytics, MBA, MS Numerical Science and a BS in Computer Engineering. She has recently joined Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) as a Senior National Security Analyst and is no longer par of Fireman & Associates, LLC. She has worked with the US Navy, OSD, government major financial institutions, hedge funds, investment advisors, attorneys, energy & offshore companies.  Karen has held numerous C-Suite positions including Chief Financial Officer of Columbus Properties, Chief Compliance Officer of Columbia Partners Investment Management, Chief Technology Officer of ManTech Cyber.  Karen was an economist for BP-Amoco's Gulf of Mexico Shelf. She was Assistant Vice President and Asset/Liability Officer of USF&G, Compliance Director of Freddie Mac, and Team Lead at NAVSEA. She is currently an Advisory Board Member of the $100M data analytics initiative Michigan Institute for Data and AI in Society (MIDAS) and is a member of the advisory committee for Associated Federation of Baltimore. She was formerly the lead advisory board member of NSF-funded Foundation of Resilient Cyber Systems (FORCES) Research group including Berkeley, MIT, Michigan and Vanderbilt.  Karen was also a board member of University of Michigan Engineering Alumni Board and was Vice Chairman of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Council (ECEC). She has been an Investment Board Member for several charitable endowments including the Houston Jewish Community Federation. She has been a financial advisor to multinational institutions and the Columbia Association.  Karen has been published in Barron's Proceedings, International Actuarial Association, Military Operations Research Society (MORS), and numerous other publications. She was an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, Towson State University, University of Michigan, University of Baltimore and has spoken at numerous conferences and engagements. She received the University of Michigan – Distinguished Alumni Service Award, and received awards from the U.S. Navy Department, and from the Chief of Naval Operations.
